Did you know your skin loses about 25% of its moisture while you sleep at night? That’s why night creams are often richer and more moisturizing.
Now think about the winter…maybe you have a fire going in the fireplace, or the heat blows consistently throughout the day. That leads to very low humidity levels indoors. Winter is also notorious for low humidity outdoors as well as higher than normal winds. All these factors contribute to dry winter skin.
Luckily, nature has provided us with all the ingredients necessary to restore and maintain moisture throughout both the epidermis (the outer layer) and the dermis (the layer just below the dermis.)
Nature’s Dry Skin Line-Up
Coconut Milk has many glorious effects for year round use, but it’s especially crucial in the winter. The high fat content serves to moisturize and smooth the skin, improving elasticity while it locks in hydration.
Olive Oil also makes a superb moisturizer. Beyond that, it shields skin from dry winter air while it delivers antioxidants and soothes inflammation.
Marshmallow Root is especially beneficial for those with sensitive skin. This little known ingredient helps skin retain its moisture while it eases redness and inflammation.
